What things have gone wrong with the car?VERY poor rear, and side

General comments?I only owned this car for 1700 miles (about two months). The color was "Absolutely Red", and it had the automatic.

I loved the looks of this car, but traded it in quickly because...at 6'1", this car was just too small and cramped for me. I thought I kept this in mind while test driving it. But, it turned out the "living" with it was a different story.

Getting in and out was a major hassle, and driving comfort wasn't there. Seats really lacked nice "cush."

This NOT to knock the car! I just don't think it's suitable for larger people (unless maybe as a 2nd "fun" car).

Acceleration was moderate for a 4-cyl, but the car handled corners like it was on rails.

The car's appearance is very stunning and sharp...That's why I fell in love with it!

The car seemed nice and tight in all ways.

Visibility so far as "rear shoulder checks" and "backing up" goes was terrible though. I had the spoiler, which made it even worse. When backing up, I almost always wished I had someone outside to "guide" me around other cars.

And, in the short time I had this car...A few very small paint chips were incurred on the front hood area. Not bad after such a short time, but I think this would be a major progressive problem down the road. This is all probably due to poor paint quality, as well as the low, sloped profile of the front end "catching" all kinds of road-thrown particles.

A friend of ours has a 2002 Celica, and this front end paint chip problem has been significant and growing. And, she says the "Toyota Absolutely Red" touch-up paint doesn't match well.

I wish I could have kept her, but we just weren't a "match."

I traded it in on a 2003 Toyota Camry SE, that I'm just absolutely in LOVE with.

It may not have quite the aggressive looks as the Celica, but DANG....She looks oh-so-fine to me!

And what an absolute joy and comfort to drive!

Wish I'da gone with Camry first!

I want to thank Dave Mungenast Toyota (Alton, Illinois) for working with me on this.

They understood that the Celica just "wasn't for me," and worked with me very nicely and reasonably in getting me in my now beloved Camry!

If your interested in pictures, e-mail me..and I'll send pics of both the former Celica and the current Camry...
